Startup Grind with Shaheen Alkhudari

Sponsored by Humble Burgers and Tap

Shaheen Al-Khudari is the co-founder and CEO of Ajar, a cloud-based service that enables tenants to pay their rent online and on time. The idea was born from his own personal difficulties in paying rent in cash and wanting to find a more effective solution for himself and others sharing the same problem. Ajar Online was one of the finalists of the MIT Enterprise Forum Arab Startup Competition, and the winner of the KIPCO Tmkeen Award for Young Entrepreneurs, worth $100,000, in November 2015. In March 2017, it was selected by ArabNet as one of the “10 Fintech Startups to Keep on Your Radar”. It won the KFAS award for best eCommerce project for 2015-16.

Before venturing on his startup journey, Shaheen was a Project Manager at the holding company British Link Kuwait (BLK) for Kurdistan and China, and an IT Division Manager, also at BLK. His previous work experience includes working as an IT Consultant with Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce, a business analyst for Global Investment House, and a Payable Accountant for Schlumberger.

Shaheen has an MBA from the American University of the Middle East, and a Bachelor of MIS from Kuwait University.
